How to enhance the effectiveness of meditation treatment for anxiety and depression by boosting neuroplasticity

The goal of meditation treatment is to create neuroplastic change in the brain, we can enhance the neuroplasticity in our brain with specific supplements, specific types of physical exercise and by following a specific diet.
 
If you going to invest 50 hours in meditation brain training/treatment you want to get the maximum return from your investment of time, 50 hours is the threshold I recommend to achieve significant therapeutic effects. We are trying to grow new connections and change the shape of the brain, this is a neuroplastic process and neuroplasticity can be enhanced; in 2012 I developed a treatment program to enhance neuroplasticity with specific supplements, diet and physical exercises to boost BDNF and just as importantly minimise the things that inhibit neuroplasticity most notably inflammation in the brain. Put simply I’m proposing that at the same time as you do a course in meditation you would need a great diet, to specific aerobic style exercises and take a stack of supplements.
 
You could take a generic formula of supplements and follow an anti-inflammation diet but the with doing this is that there is something in your system significantly inhibiting your neuroplasticity and a generic prescription may be insufficient to fully eradicate it. Inflammation in the brain in particular inhibits neuroplasticity and there are several things that can trigger inflammation it and you have to make sure you have eradicated every single one of these, such factors as the gut brain axis, an unhealthy microbiota, overactivity in the HPA axis, hidden infections, nutrient deficiencies, a lack of methylation from the MTHFR gene mutation et al.
 
For this reason I developed the prescription of supplements, dietary change and exercises on an individual basis and to do that I have to take a case history, another thing I can do if you do book a private consultation is modify the meditation brain training.
 
My experience of meditation is both personal and professional, personally I have lived with bipolar disorder since the 1970s and began using meditation as part of my recovery in the mid-1980s, professionally I have been in practice as a functional medicine practitioner since 1988 and have taught meditation to patients since the early 90s. I have adapted and developed mindfulness techniques specifically to suit the needs of people with mental health problems using the latest understanding is from.
 
It is now beyond reasonable scientific doubt that meditation produces real therapeutic effects for anxiety and depression, 2012 meta analysis found that studies that showed meditation has antianxiety effects outnumber studies that showed it didn’t by 700 and for depression by 400; there are drugs approved for use in humans with far less than 400 or 700 study showing they worked compared to studies that show they didn’t, [reference for this study the psychologist Kelly McGonigle Author of the Willpower Instinct]
