Bright Light Treatment for SAD Winter Blues

Bright light treatment (BLT) is usually thought of as only being helpful for SAD syndrome winter blues, however this is mistaken for it is useful for any type of depression. There is solid scientific evidence that the BLT has a mild but possibly more reliable antidepressant effect than standard antidepressants. Two things stand out with bright light therapy that make it a genuinely useful tool for treating depression:
  • Firstly BLT is far quick acting than regular antidepressants drugs producing antidepressant effects within days as opposed to weeks.
  • Secondly BLT is certainly side-effect free.

BLT stimulates the cells in the eye that stimulate serotonin production in the brain, as I've said elsewhere antidepressants drugs are not the only way to boost serotonin and it is a travesty that this particular method is so underutilised. If you suffer from depressive illness do not hesitate to invest in this safe effective antidepressant

WARNING: Anything that has an antidepressant effect may induce mania in a person with bipolar syndrome, BLT is no exemption and there is a small but real risk of inducing a harmful manic episode. A high dose of BLT will reliably induce a hyper-mania condition in me, and when I want to test the efficacy of a new potential ant-mania remedy/approach I use an excessive dose of BLT on myself and then experiment with the new antidote, if it doesn’t work a can always shut the mania down with tried and tested techniques.  
If you have bipolar syndrome BLT can be used as an effective antidepressant but ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE ESTABLISHED WELL HONED TECHNIQUES TO SHUT DOWN MANIC PHASES.

I regret that at this time do not treat psychotic conditions including schizophrenia at this time.
